What's in a name?
Someone asked us recently "Who is Colin Glen?" - thinking that we had named our Fellowship after a person! We found it quite funny. We had presumed that everyone knew that Colin Glen is the name of a wooded glen in West Belfast that starts in a valley between the Collin hill and Black Mountain. The Colin river that flows down the glen carries on between the Poleglass and Suffolk housing estates eventually finding its way through Dunmurry to the Lagan river and the sea. Likewise nearby two other little rivers wend their way through the appropriately named ''Twinbrook'' estate and onward via the same Lagan to the sea.
What about the rest of the name? Well we chose Christian because we want to let people know that we are not members of a sect like the Jehovah''s witnesses or Mormons, nor are we members of particular historic Christian denominations such as Methodist or Catholic. Rather we seek simply to follow Christ and obey his teaching. We offer everybody a warm and friendly welcome and encourage them to do the same.
Why Fellowship? The dictionary says this word contains the meaning of a community with common interests, sharing and companionship. The Scriptures encourage Christ''s followers not just simply to meet together but to support and encourage one another and to help those that are in need.

Colin Glen Forest Park As a Christian Fellowship, we believe and teach that it is possible to know now, here today on earth, that your sins are forgiven and that you will most certainly go to be with Christ in heaven when you die. That knowledge and the peace, hope and joy that it brings outlasts and goes beyond other experiences we can have and provides a strong incentive to live in a way that is pleasing to God.
We believe that in Christ God wishes to reconcile all men to himself so that having experienced his love and forgiveness they may in turn be reconciled to each other. To some extent, we have experienced this reconciliation across community divides in our Fellowship. Therefore, we discourage anyone from using political, national or cultural issues to create division or to foster animosity or disharmony. No one needs to hold specific political beliefs or deny their culture or nationality in order to be part of the Fellowship. Instead, we simply ask everyone to submit every part of their lives to the teachings of Christ.
We believe in the authority of God’s Word (the Bible), alone, to guide and direct us in all areas of life. By using God’s Word in this way (not simply using it to support our own ideas), we can be sure of following Christ as the head of his Church.
